Hawks BasketBlog
Psst....
Posted by: Micah Hart on June 23, 2007 at 12:08PM EST
This is a big week for the Hawks. First and foremost because of all the excitement and possibility that comes with having two top-11 picks in a stacked NBA Draft. But also because the team is unveiling new logos, new uniforms and, ahem, a new Web site later this week. The official uniform unveiling comes Sunday on Hawks.com and in the AJC, (the new Web site gets launched on Tuesday) but in honor of the two-year anniversary of this blog (we started it on draft night 2005) I thought I'd give you, our loyal blog reader, a little sneak peak at the unis and logos a few hours early. So consider it Christmas Eve. Click Away.

They look sharp. Good call by the Spirit. Hopefully this is a new start for the Hawks.

Not bad but we look like the Charlotte Bobcats part deux.

these jerseys suck... Should have gone back to the 80's design. These look so generic...

Wow!.... I don't really like the new jerseys and secondary logo... As a matter of fact, they are New Jersey's replica... and logo looks like an atl. thrasher... i know alot more people like the navy blue... but the burgany made us the Hawks.
Now, I love the side pin strip and the logo on the back of the neck, but beside that they look like practice jerseys.
As an all, we need a change... if the jerseys make us winners i love them... because i live in FL and i'm tired of this boys laughing at me and Hawks. lol. The only thing i can telll them it is alway next year. I'm tired of saying that

I agree with BWA. The uniforms are a nice change. It seems like that are going for a fresh blue look. At the very least, this can boost moral and sell more 'nalia.

i love the atlanta hawks but i can't help saying this, the colours(gray and navy blue)make this hawk looks like he's dying...i have no problem with the new jerseys and new secondary logo, but we should keep the colours which are red, yellow and black, the combined of red, yellow and black represent royalty, aggressiveness and passion...

actually i think it's just a matter of time,we'll get used to it,and we'll love it,but the jerseys make the hawks like a US national team going to Olympic competition...

Hello, I'm from Spain. I don't like the new jersey. Where's the red and yellow? Should have gone back to the 80's design!

I have a draft idea for the Hawks:

To Memphis:
Josh Childress
Zaza Pachulia
3rd Overall
11th Overall

To Atlanta:
Pau Gasol
4th Overall
Future First Round Pick

Please tell me why the Hawks management is worried about uniforms. The only thing that needs to be shaken up in the organization is the talent level on the team. If you are a true hawk fan like I, you hate the new uniforms, the red, black, yellow, and white has been a staple in Atlanta for years and should remain. The Bulls, Lakers, Celtics, and Spurs have kept the same color scheme for years and these teams have heritage. Shiny new packaging on a mediocre product is not the answer. The main concern for the organization should have been to get Joe some help. I read that the changing of the colors and logo will cost 755,000 this is money that could be given to another key player or a coach with a winning record. Did management or marketing consult with the fans before they made uniform changes, I am a season ticket holder and have not heard a word. Sad day for a true hawks fan!!!!!!

Rafael, I see your point but can any of us honestly compare the Hawks tradition to that of the Bulls, Lakers, Celtics and Spurs.

The time for change was long overdue and it's refreshing to see the Hawks finally doing something to change their appeal other than drafting this year's high potential player.

I personally don't care for the design of the new unis, but I do care about this franchise doing "something" to appeal to others, maybe even the casual fan who may pass by the store and say, "I like that jersey, even though it's the Atlanta Hawks, I'm still buying it."

I agree with one of the earlier bloggers who stated that we look like New Jersey Nets... the down south version. I will miss the traditional Red, Black and Gold, I'm only old enough to remember those basic 3, but sometimes it's necessary make certain changes.

Sometimes it is refreshing to see what a simple wardrobe change does for teams, just look at what it did for teams like the Cavs, the Wizards, the Kings and the Jazz.

I like the new unis.

And Charles - you gotta be trippin if you wanna go back to the 80's unis! Those were some of the ugliest uniforms in a league full of ugly uniforms. The old Hawk logo looked like one of those crazy designs where you see different things depending on what angle you view it from (old woman one way, young girl another...ha).

I hope the reports about the Hawks stalling the Amare deal arent true. This is a no brainer. A great team revolves around a superstar to build upon. If that superstar is a center, its an added bonus (a la Oden going over Durant). To be able to get Amare would be the greatest move the Hawks have ever made. Building a team around Joe and Amare would be a short process and the seats of Phillips would be full! Making a later move for a decent PG would also be key, but an opportunity like this doesnt come around often. Next years draft will be the most PG stacked draft of the last decade. Billy Knight needs to stop being the most cancerous face in sports, pull his head out of his ass, and look at this opportunity as if he had half a brain.
