Playoff Blog: Game 2, Halftime Thoughts
Posted by: Micah Hart on April 24, 2008 at 6:01AM AFT
In Game 1, I felt like the halftime score should have been much closer than 9. In this game, it feels like it should be much bigger than 10. Quite honestly, the Hawks haven't done a ton right in this game (other than hitting foul shots, which have saved the team's bacon) yet are still very much in the game. That's a positive sign.

A few other thoughts on the first half:

- Acie Law played terrific basketball in 9 minutes of action, keeping the team afloat while some of his teammates sat on the bench with foul trouble. I realize it's only one game, but I loved his aggression in attacking the basket. I know it's been a tough year for the rookie, but I still have great confidence in his future contributions to the team.

- Again, the fact that we only trail by 10 when Joe Johnson, Mike Bibby, and Al Horford have combined to take just 11 shots from the field is actually pretty impressive. We have got to get them more involved in the second half. Josh Childress has only 1 shot as well.

- Defensively, I think the Hawks are doing a better job against Rajon Rondo than they did in Game 1. Sam Cassell continues to do damage though - he is just a thorn in our side.

- Boston is in a bit of foul trouble, as Pierce, Perkins, and Powe (sounds like a law firm) each have 3 fouls. That's a good bit of the Celtics frontline, so hopefully we can take advantage by attacking inside with Horford and Josh Smith.

Again, this game is not over, but I'd really like to see a little run to start the half to really get this thing going. We'll see what happens in just a few minutes...
