Just got back from practice, and there is some news to report on the status of Marvin Williams.
Marvin has elected not to have surgery, and instead will try to rehabilitate his back to see if that does the trick instead.
Though there is no timeline for his return at this point, I tend to think that the fact that he isn't having surgery is a bit of a silver lining. While it's entirely possible he may end up missing significant time, even the rest of the season, it's also entirely possible he could be back at some point to help the team in the playoff push and beyond.
Basically, the way I read it is, if he needed surgery that was a wrap, but the fact that he doesn't require it leaves some hope that it's not as bad as some had feared.
I realize that's not a ton of new information, but with injuries it's always difficult to give a strict timeline, and even more so when it's not a broken leg or torn ACL.
So, let's all just wish Marvin well (he begins his therapy today), and hope we see him in a Hawks uniform some time in the near future.
