Hawks Getting Themselves In Gear Early

Well, this is it. Our last free weekend of the off-season, the last chance
to catch our breath before the 2007-08 season gets rolling. The fun
gets started on Monday with Media Day at the Hawks practice court, and then
practice begins in earnest on Tuesday.I for one can't wait. Everyone appears
to be reasonably healthy, and based on what the team has been up to over the
past month or so, it seems as if everyone on the team is aware of what is at
stake this season.
For those who missed
Sekou Smith's piece about it in the AJC, nearly every player on the
Hawks roster has been back in Atlanta for nearly a month, voluntarily cutting
their vacation short to put in work with their teammates in hopes of getting
into game shape early and building the kind of chemistry that is important for
any team, but especially so for a team as young as the Hawks.
I have been down to the court to see them in action some, and there are
definitely some spirited games going on. I got a few photos, but my camera
doesn't do so well with flash indoors, so they are a little grainy.

One thing that is interesting is that, in addition to the pickup games
they've been playing down at the practice court, they've also been working out
together at the track at Georgia Tech doing endurance and conditioning workouts
to get themselves in better shape for the start of camp.

How will all this extra work pay off? We'll start to see the fruits of their
labor in just a few days...

this is how your team should set the tone for the 2007-08 nba season and shock the world and the NBA and believe that the Atlanta Hawks can compete with anybody on any night

Dedication, endurance, and a swagger will help the Atlanta Hawks rise to the occasion and become one of the surprise teams this 2007-08 campaign.
They're talented, but they need the attitude to win.

I am very prond of the Hawks thus far...they are putting themselves in a postion to have a successful season this year!!! And with this kind of motivation & determination, they WILL have a successful season. I'm so excited that I am looking foward to the 1st preseason game!! Go Hawks!!!!!

I've been a die-hard Hawks fan, even through the losing seasons. I'm proud of the moves that they have made thus far, but this definitely has to be a breakout year for the ball club, considering all the talent they have on their squad. They saw how Esteban Batista played during the FIBA games, that could be their best-kept secret, well it's not a secret considering how well he played during those games. Good luck Hawks!! If I could afford season tickets, i'd be at EVERY GAME!! Been one the bandwagon since i was 5, NEVER JUMPING OFF!!!

This year will be different than the rest. With a healthy Joe Johnson and great gaurd play, The Hawks shoud make some noise. The big guys have to bang and everyone play their part. We will see what happens.

The boys look good. I cant wait til they get on the floor at Phillips. They have made good moves in the off season. I hope the coaching staff can keep this team motivated and fired up throughout the season. With all the weapons that we have there is not way we cant go to the post season. I cant wait to see what Josh Smith is going to do and interested to see what the Rookies going to put out also. Hope Sheldon can bring April 2007 back to November. I have my ticket to the first preseason.

I think the Hawks should be better with their new editions. I think at worst they should challenge for a playoff spot, they even have thinking about leaving the Falcons as season ticket holder and buying Hawks tickets.

If everyone come into camp in great shape, and learn and "PLAY" their role on the team, play great individual and team defense, Phillips Arena will be Crunk playoff time:)

We need structured workouts. Not random pickup games. Where's the training staff the team pays so much money for? Winning teams plan everything to the t. That's what's been lacking in Atlanta and I'm afraid this will be another disappointing year at the end of which great players end up in great teams just like what happened in the past.

Good to see, keep it up.

|
Posted by: JS20 on October 5, 2007 6:40AM EST
now Atlanta have two decent rookie guards one is good at clutch shooting(ACIE) , one is tough on defense (JAMAAL). JJ is going to have easier load on point guard plays. ACIE can easily be 1 or 2. can't wait till season starts

I think whoever runs the point this year, they have to go in with the attitude of looking to distribute before setting up their own shot. The hawks have guys from the 2 to the 5 who can put the ball in the bucket, all they need is a 1 guard who is willing to deflate his own stats (and own ego for that matter)in order to get the ball to the other guys, especially on the low blocks.

I have been a huge supporter of the Hawks for years and I have never been more excited for a season to start than I am this year. Early season workouts? That's why we are going to shock the NBA this year.

Dont get fooled by all the hype. The Hawks are an ok team in a mediocre conference.Anything less than playoffs would be unacceptable this year.

shelton William seem like a wast pick because as he had shown like the rest of those player that come from Duke never turn out to be anything he never know how to finish a play ether he's walk of lose the ball because he not playing with conforedent so it time for the hawks to trade him for a big man a center I would like to know what Billy Knight is going to do with him
|
|
Posted by: Terry on October 21, 2007 12:03PM EST
I would like to say go hawks they will win 65 games this year
|
|
Posted by: J on October 21, 2007 9:17PM EST
65 wins is strong, I give'em 43-49 wins and a playoff appearance. Horford will turn a lot of heads and will be the player we needed in the post and the kind of spark we hoped Marvin to be in year one. Good perimeter play and solid post play and a very solid defense will help the team to the 6th or 7th playoff spot in the east. They will be an exciting team to watch as well.
|
|
Posted by: playoffdreamer on November 1, 2007 8:52PM EST
hawks will not be in the playoffs. They will be the cellar dwellars of the east!! hawks suck big hairy donkey dick!
