From the start, we all said the person who would benefit the most from the acquisition of Mike Bibby would be his backcourt mate, Joe Johnson. That wasn't a difficult assessment to make, as playing with a top flight point guard makes life easier for any scorer of JJ's caliber, especially one fighting as many double-teams as he does.
JJ took his game to another level in March, leading the team to 8 wins in their last 10 games and putting up his best statistical month of the year in minutes, scoring average, assists, blocks, steals, and FT%. Of course, that wasn't the only good news for the Hawks. Al Horford continued to show why he is a serious contender for NBA Rookie of the Year honors, as he won Rookie of the Month honors for the second consecutive month and third time this season overall. Horford dropped six double-doubles on the competition during the month, leading all Eastern rookies in scoring and rebounding in the process. The NBA season is incredibly long and grueling, and it's a testament to the talents of both Johnson and Horford that they are both playing their best ball of the season at its most critical juncture. Congrats to both!
