The most first-round picks the Hawks have ever had was in 1999, when the team had an impressive four. Of course, the four they picked didn't turn out so impressive (of Jason Terry, Cal Bowdler, Dion Glover, and Jumaine Jones, only the Jet is still a rotation player in the league), but hey, it's still a record, what do you want from me.

Congrats to Angela S., who is today's winner.

It's been several years since the Hawks swept a home series against Washington. In fact, it's been nearly a decade, as the last time the team accomplished the task was the 1997-98 season.

Congrats to Nicole W., who wins tonight's tickets.

Back in a bit with some chatter on tonight's game!

I'm a big trivia fan - I love trying to stump my co-workers with various bits of random information throughout the day. So, to have a little fun this year, we are going to be asking a trivia question the morning of every home game - usually around 10:00 am. At that point, you are free to email in your answer to that day's question. Around 2:00 p.m., we will look through all the responses, and one correct answer will be chosen at random as the winner. (Click here for official rules).

And what will they receive for their efforts, you ask? Why, they will get two free tickets to that night's home game! Hooray!

It's that simple! So remember to come to the Hawks BasketBlog every morning of every home game for a chance to win tickets for that night's game! Note: Tickets to weekend games will be given away on Fridays.

Okay, take a look at today's question and give it a shot!

Let's get to today's trivia winner, and then I'll be back in a bit to preview tonight's game. The question was how many times have the Milwaukee Bucks had the #1 overall pick, and who did they draft.

The answer? Four times. The Bucks selected Andrew Bogut with the first overall pick in 2005 (when they beat out the Hawks for the top spot), took (former Hawk - though not at the time) Glenn Robinson in 1994, Indiana's Kent Benson in 1977, and Lew Alcindor in 1969. Today's winner is Jeff L., so congrats to you Jeff.

Be back in a little with more!

Tough question today asking what is the most consecutive seasons the team has improved it's win total from the previous year. The answer? Four. In 1975-76, the Hawks went 29-53, and improved on that record in each of the four seasons thereafter, from 31-51 in 76-77 to 41-41 in 77-78 to 46-36 in 78-79 and finally to 50-32 in 79-80.

We have two winners today for two games - Dave E. wins tonight's tickets, and Gerald T. wins for Sunday. Congrats to you both.

Josh Smith was one agonizing point shy of his first career triple-double on Monday, and for today's trivia question we asked who was the last Hawks player to accomplish the feat.

The answer is Joe Johnson, who rang up his first career tripadub (is that street lingo for it? it should be if it's not) last Feb. 1 at Charlotte, finishing the game with 15 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. Congrats to Ying-Ju H., who wins tonight's tickets.

Incidentally, the last Hawks opponent to record a t/d was none other than Miami Heat PG Gary Payton, who the Hawks will face tonight. Payton did it as a member of the Lakers during the 2003-04 season, scoring 23 points to go with 10 assists and 10 rebounds.

Back with more in a bit to preview tonight's game, which, if I didn't mention before (or this is the first time you are reading the blog today), I will be doing a live-blog for.

Quick, what movie is the title from?

Today's trivia winner is Jeff L., who correctly answered that the Hawks have swept the Kings nine times in the series between the two teams. If the Kings win tonight though, they will also have swept the season nine times.

So, let's make sure that doesn't happen, whaddya say? Back with more in a bit to preview tonight's home game...

(By the way, the title is a snippet of dialogue from Ferris Beuller, one of my favorite movies of all time)

Today's question was a relative gimme - the last time the Hawks made a trade with the Rockets brought the team a current roster member, one Tyronn Lue.

T-Lue came over to Atlanta from the Rockets in the midst of the 2004-05 season in a trade that sent Jon Barry to Houston.

We have two winners today as we have two games this weekend: congrats to Nick K., who won tickets to tonight's game against Houston, and Staci C., who won two for the Phoenix game on Sunday (6:00 PM START).

Thanks to all who played, and come back for the Knicks game next Friday.

The answer to today's trivia question is the Utah Jazz, who have beaten the Hawks 12 straight times at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Atlanta will have a chance to rectify that situation on Monday, by the way, when we play at the Jazz as part of our final west coast trip of the season.

The Hawks have disrupted a few streaks this season already, including Sunday's win at New Jersey for the first time in ten visits there. Similarly, we earlier snapped a six-game slide against the Clippers, six in a row to Memphis, seven straight at Portland, and eight more on the road at Minnesota.

Congrats to Jamie R., who is today's winner!

It's easy to think that any high-scorer question involving the current Hawks roster would elicit a Joe Johnson answer. Many times, that will be the case. However, today is not one of those days. The answer to which current Hawk has scored the most in a single game against the Lakers is Lorenzen Wright, who once torched the Lakers for 32 points and 15 rebounds on Dec. 26, 1997 as a member of the LA Clippers.

Joe Johnson was another popular answer, and while he has done well against the Lakers (he poured in 30 earlier this season when the teams met in LA), he fell a basket shy of his teammate. Other high scorers against the Lakers are Josh Childress with 21, Speedy Claxton with 22, and Josh Smith with 21 as well.

Congrats to David R., who wins tickets to tonight's Lakers game. Here's to hoping Wright can duplicate that feat again in a winning effort!
